Concrete Column & Sonotube Calculator
Concrete needed for round columns, piers and tube forms (sonotubes). Uses cylinder volume, which differs from slab math.
Formula
Cubic feet = π × (diameter(in)/24)² × height(ft) × count; cubic yards = cu ft ÷ 27 × (1 + waste%).
Worked example
Inputs: Tube diameter = 12 in; Height = 4 ft; Number of columns = 4; Waste allowance = 10 %; Bag yield = 0.6 cu ft/bag.
| Cubic yards | 0.51 |
|---|---|
| Cubic meters | 0.39 |
| Bags | 24 |
FAQ
How much concrete is in a 12 in × 4 ft tube?
π × 0.5² × 4 ≈ 3.14 cu ft, about 5.2 bags at 0.60 cu ft/bag before waste.
